Thinking about starting to run but not sure where to begin? Join us for this free educational workshop designed specifically for new and aspiring runners. Whether you’re training for your first 5K, looking for a new way to stay active, or simply curious about running, this session will give you the knowledge and confidence to get started safely.
We’ll cover the fundamentals of running, including how to build endurance, avoid common beginner mistakes, reduce injury risk, and create a sustainable training plan that fits your goals and lifestyle. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from physical therapy professionals who understand how to keep your body moving well.
Come in your running attire and join us after the session for a group run. We will accomodate all ages and fitness levels with no pressure. Just a fun way to get your running journey started. We look forward to seeing you there!

Now that you’ve learned the fundamentals of getting started with running, it’s time to put together a plan for success. This workshop focuses on how to structure an effective training program, progress safely, and set realistic expectations as you work toward your running goals.
We’ll discuss common training mistakes, how to balance consistency with recovery, and what kind of progress you can realistically expect as a new runner. Whether you’re preparing for your first 5K, building fitness, or simply trying to make running a regular habit, you’ll leave with a better understanding of how to train with purpose.
Bring your questions! We’ll reserve time for an open Q&A where you can get feedback on your personal training plan and learn how to tailor your approach to your individual goals and experience level.

Start to Stride (Part 3): Running Workshop for Beginners

You’ve built your foundation and developed a training plan, so now it’s time to get ready for race day. This workshop is designed for runners preparing for their first 5K and covers everything you need to know to approach the experience with confidence.
We’ll discuss how to taper your training leading up to the event, what to wear, how to fuel and hydrate, and what to expect from race registration through crossing the finish line. You’ll also learn pacing strategies, how to manage pre-race nerves, and practical tips to help make your first race a positive and enjoyable experience.
Whether you’ve already signed up for a race or are considering one in the near future, this session will help you feel prepared, informed, and excited for the journey ahead. As always, there will be time for questions and discussion so you can get answers specific to your goals and race plans.
